La Mine D'Or Jewellers is about celebrating life's special moments. We're about commemorating those monumental occasions and unsuspecting events that memories are made from. We feel blessed to be able to come to work every day and contribute to peoples' happiness. That's why we do what we do. That's why after thirty years we continue to succeed as an independent jeweller in an era dominated by chain stores and franchise operations.

A Brief History

In the spring of 1978, Paul Cormier opened La Mine D'Or Jewellers in the basement of our original location on Mountain Road in Moncton. He could fit his entire inventory of gold chains, pendants and bracelets into a small suitcase, but he offered his customers a fair deal and he treated them with respect and before long, word started to spread. In a matter of months Paul outgrew his downstairs space and decided to purchase the entire building and move his showroom onto the main floor.

For the next fourteen years Paul, his brother Andre and the La Mine D'Or staff worked tirelessly to deepen their relationships with their Atlantic Canadian clientele. Then in 1987, the team opened a new location in the Champlain Mall.

This new environment brought many new challenges, but none as great as the challenge we faced on April 12, 1994 when our founder, family member and dear friend Paul Cormier tragically passed from this world.

Devoted to carrying on the family legacy, Andre Cormier stepped into the role of President. In 2000, he moved the store out of the Champlain Mall and into the current location on the corner of Botsford and Queen streets in downtown Moncton. As André put it at the time, "Moncton's downtown core is vibrant and growing. Over the coming years we are going to see further growth while at the same time be more accessible to people."

After 30 years of steady growth, La Mine D'Or Jewellers continues to rely on a winning formula of a commitment to integrity, a professional sales staff and a well-selected range of quality merchandise at competitive prices. That's the way we've always done it. It's the only way we know.

Money, Name & A Difference

We've heard it said that everyone wants to make the same three things -- money, a name, and a difference. But the thing that makes each of us different is how we prioritize these three things. For some, the almighty dollar is most important. Others would rather be well-known and respected amongst their peers. And then there are those people and organizations that are motivated by the chance to make a positive effect on the world around them.

La Mine D'Or Jewellers is one of those organizations. A hundred years from now, we want to be remembered as a company that gave back to the people and the place that gave us an opportunity to chase down our dream. Make no mistake, we are a for-profit business. But we're also an independently-owned, homegrown business that donates a significant portion of those profits to causes like the Tree of Hope campaign, Richelieu, Rotary and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. We are also a major donor to the University of Moncton scholarship fund.

So when you walk out of La Mine D'Or with a piece of fine jewellery to commemorate a special moment in your life, there's always a chance you're also helping create a special moment in someone else's life. And that's what making a difference is all about.
